Physio Led Pilates 1:1

Whether you are looking for an introduction into Pilates, learning the key principles, concepts and developing a basic beginners repertoire or you are a more experienced athlete looking to build a more advanced programme of exercises to help build strength, control, flexibility and balance.

Pilates is also a great adjunct for people looking to recover from an injury. Traditional Pilates exercises can be suitably modified to make a programme to suit your needs help you improve.

Lympha Touch

LymphaTouch is a medical device, which delivers precisely controlled negative pressure(vacuum)on the skin, which lifts the skin and underlying tissues, stimulating the lymphatics. This device helps to remove excess fluid and assists with healing.

LymphaTouch can be used as a stand alone treatment modality but can also be used as an adjunct to therapy such as Scar management, lymphatic drainage, pre and post op management etc.

At Advance Balance LymphaTouch is used as part of the Scar Work Therapy and can also be used as an 'add on' to the Rejuvology and Enerqi Facials to further assist with reducing fine lines, wrinkles as well targeting and reducing oedema to the face and around the eyes.

Deep Oscillating Therapy

This machine delivers electrostatic field via massage or applicators. This results in vibration and lifting of tissues being treated, permeating to a depth of 8cm. This treatment is light and gentle resulting in a relaxing and pleasant experience.

Some of the benefits include:

- Decrease in pain

- Decrease in oedema

- Decrease fibrosis

- Reducing bruising

This makes this piece of equipment a great adjunct to Scar Therapy, during post operative healing and for reduction of pain, facial oedema as well as fine lines and wrinkles.

Structural Body Work

During these sessions an individuals posture is observed. From this body reading an individualised treatment can be devised to help to rebalance the body by applying the concepts and principles of Anatomy Trains fascial lines.

Treatment involves myofacial release and soft tissue work combined with movement often from feet upwards helping to unwind and address the postural patterns of the individual. This can often take 3 sessions. For maximum benefit these sessions would best be coupled with specific strengthening and accessory work to assist with the rebalancing of the system.

This treatment is ideal for anyone looking to improve their posture, wishing to move more efficiently and easily or to help to improve sport performance, or it can be applied along side other treatments to try to assist with an injury.

Scar Work

ScarWork consist of gentle hands on massage techniques to assist with scar healing, function and the movement of surrounding tissues, which can often become tight and adhered following an injury or wound.

Following an operation or injury our bodies naturally work hard to heal, forming a scar, which helps to close the wound.

At times this scar can become problematic resulting in layers of tissue becoming bound together, which can result in pain, decreased movement in around the area and hypersensitivity, causing other issues. ScarWork is not only useful at preventing future issues in those early stages of healing but it is also helpful at improving function and movement of scar and surrounding area at a later date. ScarWork consists of gentle massage techniques to the scar and surrounding area to help to release tension, decrease sensitivity, and reduced pain(often this is lighter pressure than a standard massage. Liz Specialises in Scar Work for C Sections. providing a comprehensive assessment of the post natal mum. Trained with the best in the field of Scar Therapy including Sharon Wheeler, Emma Holly and Hannah Poulton.

During these sessions other adjuncts can be prescribed such as Deep Oscillation Therapy, and LymphaTouch all which promote healing.

Liz can also help advise on additional products such as Silicone, creams and oils to help with scar management and healing.

Shockwave Therapy

Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) is a non-invasive treatment to stimulate healing in soft tissues. Shockwaves are mechanical and not electrical.

These audible, low energy sound waves, work by increasing blood flow to the injured area. By stimulating an inflammation-like response and helps reset/accelerate the body’s healing process and can help increase cell activity and dissolve calcium deposits.

Why should I have Shockwave Therapy?

RSWT is offered to patients with tendinopathies, and plantar fasciitis or tennis elbow, who have often not responded adequately to treatments, such as physiotherapy, rest, injections, ice therapy and painkillers.

The treatment can be offered before injection or other treatments as it is a minimally invasive treatment that carries high success rates. Treatment is carried out by a qualified therapist within the clinic and can be as short as a 15 min treatment.

A combination of shockwave therapy and a rehab programme is recommended to give increased treatment benefits. A course of 3 to 5 treatments, around 5-7 days apart but normally three sessions are very effective.

Shockwave therapy has been shown to be effective for the following conditions:

• Tennis Elbow

• Golfers Elbow

• Plantar Fasciitis

• Achilles Tendinopathy

• Patella (Knee) Tendinopathy

• Trochanteric (Hip) pain syndrome

Saebo Splint fabrication

Saebo’s revolutionary product offering was based on the latest advances in rehabilitation research. From the SaeboFlex which allows clients to incorporate their hand functionally in therapy or at home, to the SaeboMAS, an unweighting device used to assist the arm during daily living tasks and exercise training, “innovation” and “affordability” can now be used in the same sentence.

SaeboFlex

ï‚· The SaeboFlex is:

o Custom fabricated, wrist hand finger orthosis specifically designed for

stroke survivors who exhibit minimal hand function.

o Specifically, the stroke survivor can usually close their hand (i.e. curl the

fingers into a fist) but he or she cannot then open the hand or extend his

or her fingers.

o The SaeboFlex orthosis will support the patient’s wrist and hand which

have been weakened due to a neurological condition (e.g., stroke, TBI, incomplete spinal cord, etc.). The SaeboFlex orthosis will allow the patient to use their affected wrist and hand thereby enhancing their ADL performance and promoting functionality.

ï‚· The SaeboFlex is made up of  a forearm cuff

o A semi-oval shaped hand piece with 4 metal attachments that mimic the fingers

o A thumb support that positions the thumb to allow grasp and release

o A variable resistance spring system for the fingers and thumb that helps

the person using the SaeboFlex perform functional grasping.

ï‚· The SaeboFlex allows individuals to perform functional grasp and release activities that would otherwise be impossible.

ï‚· Stroke survivors use the SaeboFlex at home and in therapy.

ï‚· The SaeboFlex is not a passive device nor does it have electrical parts. It is volitionally based. Therefore, the patient is required to do 100% of the work.

Advance Balance can assess to see if these types of splints would suitable for you.
