Service Description

ScarWork consist of gentle hands on massage techniques to assist with scar healing, function and the movement of surrounding tissues, which can often become tight and adhered following an injury or wound. Following an operation or injury our bodies naturally work hard to heal, forming a scar, which helps to close the wound. At times this scar can become problematic resulting in layers of tissue becoming bound together, which can result in pain, decreased movement in around the area and hypersensitivity, amping other issues. ScarWork is not only useful at preventing future issues in those early stages of healing but it is also helpful at improving function and movement of scar and surrounding area at a later date. ScarWork consists of gentle massage techniques to the scar and surrounding area to help to release tension, decrease sensitivity, and reduced pain(often this is lighter pressure than a standard massage. Where appropriate other adjuncts can be prescribed such as Deep Oscillation Therapy, LymphaTouch, and Laser, all which promote healing. Liz can also help advise on additional products such as Silicone, creams and oils to help with scar management and healing.
